PRETTY IN PEPLUM //

Top: c/o Missy Empire | Jacket: c/o Missguided (similar) | Jeans: similar | Bag: Forever21 | Sunnies: similar | Shoes: c/o

Well it looks like Spring is finally here and we can officially start shedding some layers! I have been so in love with the Mule sandal trend and love this option for spring! I also think my mom had a pair almost exactly like this when I was growing up, in fact, this is likely an outfit she would have worn in the 90s ha! I also recently picked up this adorable peplum top from Missy Empire, I believe this one sold out pretty quick but they have lots of gorgeous options for spring!

MOVING OUT OF MY HOME OFFICE //

Friday, 21 April 2017

It is still so crazy seeing my logo on an actual window.. on an actual window that's attached to an actual building! I have dreamed of the day I would be able to work out of somewhere other than my house and that day has finally come. It didn't happen quite as I thought it would but it is an office in the city none the less and I am thrilled.

I have been self employed for about three years now and I have always worked out of my home. For many young entrepreneurs this is of course the best option as, well, it's free! However, as my business grew and as bigger and bigger boxes started rolling into my apartment, it was time to find somewhere else to go. I had originally had it in my head that when I finally made the move out of my house and into an office it would be all my own - a big space with big windows for lots of natural light, and lots of room for stock and pretty little displays. I pictured having a big desk for my Macbook, a cute little chair with a sheepskin throw and copper clothing racks for samples. Things didn't really turn out that way, and it was when I started looking into places and keeping my budget in mind that my dreams came to a screeching halt.

The right space and the right price finally presented itself and I jumped on it. I now work out of a shared office space with myself and four other entrepreneurs building their dreams. It's awesome coming into work everyday and having people that are in the same boat as you surrounding you for advice and encouragement. I don't go into the office everyday, maybe three times a week and the other two day I work from home doing blog shoots or running around. So I do still get to have days where I don't need to drive into the city.

Working from home really started to affect my well being and my mental state. It became all too easy for me to just roll out of bed and head straight to the computer. I would work from morning to night without getting out of my pajamas, and some days, not even brushing my teeth... I know, gross. I started feeling down on myself and even worse when mistakes would happen or things would go wrong, it was like the world was ending. I needed to make the move out of my house not only for the space, but for my sanity. Now, I get up in the morning, I shower, get ready for the day and head to the city. I also have noticed a change in my self organization because I have to ensure my time spent traveling into the office is worth it, so I spend my sundays planning my week and pinpointing exactly what I'm going to get done on what days. It's only been just over two weeks but I have already noticed a major difference in my productivity and even my overall success. And this is not to suggest anyone working from home go out right now and find an office, it has to be the right time and it has to fit within your budget. However, for anyone on the fence or thinking about taking the jump to a space, I would highly recommend it.

As soon as Spring comes around I love picking up some new fresh white kicks to wear all season long. Last week I picked up these gorgeous leather options from Garment Project c/o Elpidio Trading and have quickly fallen in love - they are amazing quality and super comfy, so cute with denim or little spring dresses as well!

I also recently picked up this blush bomber from  which is so perfect for Spring! It's the perfect pale pink and is nice and lightweight so I will be able to wear it all season long, also goes so great with this .

I don’t think anything says Cinco de Mayo more than a crisp Corona. Corona is always my drink of choice while away in Mexico but it really is the perfect beer to have on hand for when your friends drop by - Cinco de Mayo or any other day of the year! This year, I’m planning on putting a bit of a twist on this classic favourite and making beeritas! I love adding a bit of citrus and sweet to my beer so these are perfect for our Cinco de Mayo celebrations, they’re also super simple!
Here’s what you’ll need:
Coarse salt
Ice
Limes
Simple syrup or agave syrup
Tequila

To start, rim all the glasses with coarse salt. Fill with ice and add the fresh squeezed juice of half a lime. Then, add your favourite sweetener, I used simple syrup but agave would also work perfectly! Fill with Corona and garnish with a lime wheel. If you’re feeling really adventurous, add just a splash of tequila!

These little cocktails are super refreshing and a total crowd pleaser.

I love easy recipes that are quick to whip up for guests. This Negra Modelo cheese sauce is so yummy and perfect for sharing!
Here’s what you’ll need:
8oz cream cheese
2 cups mexican cheese mix (cheddar, mozza, monterey jack)
One cup Negra Modelo
½ tsp Garlic salt

You will simply melt the cream cheese in a sauce pan, add in the shredded cheese and negra modelo, cook on low while constantly stirring until melted and combined. Add garlic salt to taste. Voila! A super simple and delicious cheese sauce for you and your amigos.

I chose to use Negra Modelo for this recipe because the dark beer adds such a rich flavour to the sauce and helps to enhance the rich taste of the cheddar and monterey jack.

LITTLE BLUSH BAG //

Bag: c/o Poppy + Peonies | Top: Forever21 | Jeans: similar | Jacket: similar | Sunnies: c/o ZeroUV

I think you all know by now what a sucker I am for anything nude/blush pink, so this Poppy + Peonies bag pretty much stole my heart right out of the gate. It's made of the most beautiful soft pink and has this gold hardware that basically makes my heart skip a beat. It's also awesome because you can change the strap from chain to leather, or remove it completely for a night clutch!

Also I haven't really posted it too much but last week I moved into my first ever actual office!! I'm talking no more walk five feet to your computer, wear your pyjamas to work actual office! It's in the city which turns out to be about a 40 minute drive which is not bad at all. It's a shared space so I get to work with like-minded creatives everyday and I can bring Gigi! Wins all around. It's been a bit of a transition but overall it's been such a great decision. I'm much more focused and find myself feeling way more accomplished at the end of the day! I'm hoping to shoot the space soon and give you all a little tour so I will keep you posted! To go along with that I've been finding that this little clutch is the perfect concise bag to tote to and from the office - keeps all my necessities right at my hip!
